Welcome to Greatwood, a small family-run stud nestled in picturesque rural Staffordshire, breeding Hanoverian dressage foals with some of the finest German and Dutch pedigree.
Our intimate stud farm is home to our foundation German Warmblood mares, imported for their superior bloodlines, conformation, temperament and of course, their ability to consistently produce offspring of the highest calibre, with potential for top level dressage.
With a focus on quality over quantity, we breed just a handful of foals each year available at weaning to homes where they can achieve their potential in sport.
With WBFSH 2nd World Ranking and Olympic pedigree highlights from our foundation mares, the very best stallions from Europe are selected to complement and enhance their breeding.
The well-being and development of each foal is nurtured from the moment of conception, ensuring that every foal receives the best possible start in life. Handled from birth, they have their feet trimmed and are wormed and groomed, forming trust and respect. They have access to ample quiet pasture in our tranquil setting, allowing them time to grow and enjoy being young so that they can go on to become well rounded and confident sports horses.
Expert equine veterinary care is in the capable hands of Little Rock Equine, who also take care of all our A.I. here at the farm.

Lord Leopold x Quando Quando x Sandro Hit
Luna is an exciting broodmare, with bloodlines rarely seen in this country. Her sire is Lord Leopold who finished fourth at the 2012 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf as a 5-year old, and sixth at the 2013 Bundeschampionate as a 6-year old; debuting at Prix St George level at just 7, he was later acquired by the Austrian Grand Prix rider Victoria Max-Theurer.
Her Damsire is the legendary Quando Quando, whose remarkable career saw numerous victories at Grand Prix level; he was the most successful Oldenburger at World Equestrian Games in Aachen in 2006 and participated in the Olympic Games in Hong Kong in 2008.

Zirkon x Blue Hors Zack x Wolkentanz II
Wildcard is a charming broodmare by the exceptional Rhinelander Stallion Zirkon, winner of the 6yr old qualification classes of the Bundeschampionate at Burghof Equestrian Centre, ridden by Dorothee Schneider. His sire is none other than Blue Hors Zack, ranked the world’s 2nd best breeding stallion by WBFSH (FEI competition year 2022/2023)
Her Damsire is Wolkentanz II, considered by many to be one of the best sons of Weltmeyer, having dreamlike type and movement. His career highlights include participating for Germany in the World Championship of Young Dressage Horses in Arnheim, Netherlands and completing the dressage tests at the International Dressage Festival in Lingen in 2000 as winner, with the dream score of 9.6.

Escanto PS, by Escamillo, is a stallion with incredible dynamics, balance and beautiful cadence. A two-time stallion peformance test winner, who in Warendorf received the dream score of 10 three times for his trot canter and rideability. He is the Oldenburg Main Premium Title winner for 2024 and under consideration for this title was his development, stallion performance test, and not least, the quality of his foals.

For Dance, by For Romance, is a stallion who leaves nothing to be desired in terms of his sovereignty, willingness to perform and elastic movement. Rideable, clear-headed and intelligent, he was the Oldenburg Main Premium title winner in 2017 and the Hanoverian Premium winner in 2015. His Dam St.Pr.St. Reverie was awarded the Hanoverian Mare of the Year 2022. He received the dream score of 10 for temperament and character at his performance test.
